Slept in a bit and went down to the executive lounge for a big breakfast. Weren't sure of what to do for the day because the sun just didn't want to come out so we went to Basel with Dad because he was going there for work. We had about three hours to kill before Dad was done working so we stopped in a hotel to get an idea of what to see in Basel. We explored the old part of the city, found some nice churches, and admired the cute Swiss architecture. Some of the modern buildings were so ugly and just didn't fit.
Couldn't believe all the Easter displays - chocolate bunnies were taking over Switzerland! Mom and I headed back to the train station to get some lunch because everything else was closed due to it being Sunday. We split a ham and cheese sandwich making sure to take the eggs out of it first (yuck!) and then shared an eclair in a nearby park before Dad came back.
Fell asleep on the drive back to Zurich. Dad took us for a drive by the lake to show us where he rode his bike last time he was here, but apparently he is Lance Armstrong because it seemed like we were in the car forever before we realized we should turn around. Passed the Lindt Chocolate Factory on the drive. When we got back to the hotel we enjoyed some wine, cheese, and bread in the lounge and then rested a bit before dinner.
We went out to this awesome authentic Swiss place called Zeughauskeller (say that 5 times fast) that was recommended to us by the hotel - Mom and Dad decided that it'd be my birthday celebration dinner seeing that I wouldn't get to be with them on the fourth. The place was packed! Really cool decor - swords gave it a medieval feel. It was definitely the place to be. I had their special anniversary beer with spare ribs and we shared gingerbread cake for dessert. Nothing like Mom's gingerbread - very German.
