Zurich - Switzerland Day 5

Got a late start today and Dad was already off to Basel again. Too bad he had to work so much, but glad that we could still be together and especially glad that he didn't have to work when we were in Grindelwald which was definitely the highlight of the trip. We packed up and talked to our helpful friend Piero at the concierge about what we'd do for our last day. We thought we'd rent some bikes and ride along the lake possibly stopping to get a tour of the Lindt Chocolate Factory (hoping for samples!). Unfortunately it was too cold for biking and we found out that Lindt doesn't give tours anymore.
We were pressed for time so in the end we decided to explore Zurich seeing that we hadn't done that yet. Lots of beautiful churches and one of them we could even climb up the top of one of its towers. You could see all of Zurich from up there, but the clouds still wanted to hang around the mountains. Good thing we decided against biking because it got pretty cold! A boat ride wouldn't have been smart either.
Continuing to explore the cute little streets of Zurich we decided that we liked the countryside more than the city, but it was definitely nice to get a taste of both. We walked by this bakery just by chance that Mom had heard of but she wasn't sure if it was the same one so we popped in to check it out. Turns out it was a three-floor restaurant as well. One of the floors was the cutest little tea room and we knew we just had to stay. The small room was dimly lit with chandeliers and had a piano that played itself accompanied by furniture fit for a queen. We split a veggie pizza and treated ourselves to decadent desserts. What a great find. It was a perfect way to end the trip so we walked back to the hotel to get the car because Dad was meeting us at the airport from Basel.

This trip flew by. Sad to say goodbye to M & D, but had a great time with them and will be seeing them again sooner than I know it! They'll head back to the States as I fly from Zurich to Granada, Spain to stay with Julie for a week :) I switched out my winter clothes for some spring/summer clothes with Mom in hopes of warmer weather. I'm crossing my fingers that I get to break out my sandals and bathing suit in Spain. Realized that this is the longest trip I've ever been on (Cinque Terra/Greece with Mom and Lauren will be even longer - can't believe it!).
